MOTT HAVEN — A year after being canceled by Hurricane Sandy, The Bronx's restaurant week is back and in full swing.
Savor the Bronx runs from Nov. 5-15, and 25 restaurants throughout the borough are offering prix-fix menus or discounts, from seafood on City Island to sushi in the South Bronx to Italian food on Arthur Avenue.
Ceetay, an Asian fusion sushi bar in Mott Haven, is one restaurant taking part. One of the only sushi bars in the South Bronx, it has walls covered with tea-stained newspapers and mason jar lamps.
Laurie Humpel, assistant manager, said that the Bronx has a great variety of restaurants and the borough shouldn't be overlooked by foodies.
"The Bronx has great food," said Humpel. "I live in the Bronx, I work in the Bronx, I love the Bronx."
Ceetay, which opened in May 2012, is offering an appetizer, sushi roll, entree, and dessert for its prix-fix dinner menu. Humpel said that while many regulars have been taking advanatage of its deals during restaurant week, visitors from other boroughs have been coming too.
Savor the Bronx is produced by the Bronx Tourism Council and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. Prix-fix lunch goes for $16.41, while dinner is $20.13. Discounts are between 10 and 15 percent.
The other participating restaurants are: Bronx Ale House, The Bronx Beer Hall, Cozy Cottage, Hard Rock Café, Jake’s Steakhouse, Spoto’s, Thirty3Sixty3 Steakhouse, Bistro SK, Giannis’ Taverna, Muscle Maker Grill, Antonio’s Trattoria, Arthur Avenue Trattoria, Giovanni G-Bar, Ice House Café and Restaurant, Lighthouse, Pasquale’s Rigoletto, Tosca Café, Zero Otto Nove, Babalu, Havana Café, Marisco Centro, Artie’s Steaks and Seafood, Lobster Box Restaurant, and Tony’s Pier.
