THE BRONX — A 3-month-old High Bridge girl's death was ruled a homicide Wednesday, six months after she suffered fatal rib and head injuries, officials said.

Chelsea Gadson was having difficulty breathing so her father summoned police and medical crews to their apartment near East 168th Street and Walton Avenue about 8:13 p.m. on June 22nd, according to the NYPD.

She was rushed to Bronx-Lebanon Hospital in critical condition and died there four days later, police said.

The medical examiner's office determined Wednesday that she died from a homicide caused by "abusive head trauma," a spokeswoman said.

Investigators had not taken anyone into custody as of Friday morning and their investigation is ongoing, an NYPD spokesman said.
