UPPER WEST SIDE — Just in time for the start of bikini season, the sound of gritting teeth and ripping hair will spread to new parts of the neighborhood as two new waxing spots open their doors in early 2014.

The European Wax Center, which already has more than a dozen New York City locations, including one on Columbus Avenue at West 75th Street, announced it's opening two new Upper West Side sites in about four months.

Columbus Square shoppers can soon add a quick hot wax to their list, as the center is opening a 1,770-square-foot location on Columbus Avenue and West 100th Street, said brokerage the Winick Realty Group.

Another 1,500-square-foot  European Wax Center will also open 12 blocks south on Broadway between West 88th and 89th streets in the former Cardinal Camera Store, the brokerage said.

“The brand is in full expansion mode and they are currently focused on building their presence on both the Upper East and Upper West Sides," said Kelly Gedinsky, who brokered the deals along with Charles Rapuano.

Winick said the company is looking for an additional Upper East Side location near East 59th Street.

The company has been in operation since 1975 and claims to use Parisian-made "100% natural beeswax" that is "far more gentle on skin than traditional wax," according to its site.

Bikini line waxes range from $28 to $42.

The European Wax Center did not return request for comment.
