
FINANCIAL DISTRICT — A Brooklyn man was beaten by a group of thieves who were after his iPhone and wallet early Sunday morning in Battery Park, police said.
A witness told police that four men in baseball caps surrounded the victim in the park, across from 17 State St., kicking and punching him before running off about 2:30 a.m.
An ambulance rushed the man to Bellevue Hospital, where he was treated and released.
According to police reports, the victim was "highly intoxicated at the time of the report and unable to articulate what happened."
Information about the extent of the man's injuries was not available.
No one had been arrested as of Tuesday.

► A woman had her Coach handbag swiped from a McDonalds at 317 Broadway, near Thomas Street, on Nov. 4 at about noon, police said. The 50-year-old told police that when she left her bag on a table for a moment, a man grabbed the purse, which contained $400 in cash, and ran off.
► A man had his wallet stolen from clothing store Abercrombie & Fitch, at 199 Water St., near Fulton Street, on Oct. 26 about 9 p.m., according to police reports. The 19-year-old said he left the wallet on the counter, and when he returned, it was gone.
