NEW YORK CITY — A man was shot and killed by police officers in The Bronx in one of six Halloween shootings across the city Thursday night, the NYPD said.

The 26-year-old man exchanged shots with officers about 11 p.m. Police had started following him through the Castle Hill Houses, near Castle Hill Avenue and Randall Avenue, when they realized he fit the description of a man who had fired shots there earlier, the NYPD said.

He ran to the intersection of Randall and Olmstead avenues where the officers shot him, a police spokesman said.

The man, whose identity was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. A .45-caliber handgun was recovered there, the NYPD said.

No other injuries were reported in the incident, police said.

Three other men were shot and killed Thursday night and their assailants were not immediately arrested, police said.

► About 7:30 p.m., 46-year-old Shawn Rhodes was shot inside a 2002 Chrysler Voyager near 270 Wortman Ave., about a block from his home, police said. He was rushed to Brookdale Medical Center and pronounced dead, the NYPD said.

"Police found five shell casings. In his lap was a 9mm handgun, which may be the murder weapon," NYPD commisioner Raymond Kelly said Friday.

► About 8:30 p.m., 19-year-old Anthony Seaberry was shot in the torso outside 248 East 31st St., in East Flatbush, and taken to Kings County Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

► Also about 8:30 p.m., 19-year-old Anthony Seaberry was three times outside 248 East 31st St., in East Flatbush, and taken to Kings County Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

"He was shot once in the head. He was followed by five individuals, one of them wearing a [Scream] mask. They walk up behind this individual, shoot him once in the head, he falls down, they then proceed to shoot him five more times while he was on the ground," Kelly said.

► About 11:30 p.m., 37-year-old Kevin Thompson was shot in the neck outside 1834 Park Pl., in Crown Heights, and taken to Brookdale Hospital and pronounced dead, the NYPD said.
