BRONX — An elderly woman walking with her daughter near Yankee Stadium was struck in the chest by a stray bullet Monday afternoon, police and fire officials said.

The bullet hit the unidentified 79-year-old woman just below the rib cage about 4 p.m. near the intersection of East 153rd Street and River Avenue, police said.

She was taken to Lincoln hospital where she is in stable condition, according to the NYPD.

Police said she was not the intended target.

A man in a silver SUV was seen fleeing the scene.

Police have made no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
