MANHATTAN — An eighth motorcyclist was arrested and charged Saturday in the brutal attack on an SUV driver who was chased and beaten after he bumped the rear tire of another motorcycle, the Manhattan District Attorney's office announced.
Kaliq Douglas, 27, who the Daily News reported is the son of a worker in the DA's office, was arraigned and charged with gang assault in the first degree and first-degree assault, prosecutors said.
Witnesses claimed Douglas stomped and kicked driver Alexian Lien's head and body after he had been dragged out of his Range Rover on W.178th Street on Sept. 29, according to the DA's complaint.
"I specifically observed a male wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, black denim vest with metallic studs, black jeans, and a silver helmet with camera, surround the driver," a detective from the 33rd Precinct testified in a statement that was contained in the DA's complaint. Lien was pulled out of the car, thrown to the ground and kicked.
Lien's wife and 2-year-old daughter watched as he was beaten — a vicious scene captured in a video that later went viral.
Douglas, the eighth biker to be charged in connection with the attack, did not speak in court, and posted $25,000 cash bail, the News reported.
As many as six NYPD officers were among the bikers participating in the mammoth rally, including undercover Detective Wojciech Braszczok, who was arrested and charged with assault.
