INWOOD — Calling all disguised dogs!

Uptown pet owners will have a chance to celebrate Halloween with their furry friends when the dog-enthusiast group Inwoof holds its annual "Howl-o-ween" on Oct. 26.

The event, which starts at 10:00 a.m. at Inwood Hill Park's Homer's Dog Run, encourages owners to dress up their pets. There will a costume judging for the cutest, scariest, funniest, most creative and best store-bought outfits.

After the contest, all owners will then march in a parade down to the Inwood Farmer's Market.

"It's a fun day," said Inwoof Vice President Catherine Campbell, who said that 40 dogs were on hand for last year's event. "It's a big party, and its a way for the local community to support their dog park."

Several local shops are sponsoring the event, including Furry Fiends, Groom Your Friend, Indian Road Cafe, Garden Cafe, and the newly-opened VS Berry — whose yogurt cup mascot will be accompanying the pets during the parade.

Registration for the costume contest runs from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The event is open to the public, however Inwoof organizers request that non dog owners and those with small children watch the contest from outside of the dog run.
