NEW YORK CITY — This week, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts launch a new album, punk legend and only surviving Ramones member drummer Marky Ramone teams up with Andrew W.K. for a show, while young Las Vegas emo heroes Panic! Wednesday, Oct. 2
Brooklyn's Clap Your Hands Say Yeah didn't disappear after their 2005 self-titled album 's breakthrough, the internet just moved on to other obsessions. But they still approach indie pop from an interesting angle and will play a show at The Bowery Ballroom.

Q-Tip formed the groundbreaking A Tribe Called Quest in 1985, trailblazing hip hop with a string of smart, arty albums that served as a refreshing counterpoint to the popular hardcore and gangsta rap scenes. At Output in Williamsburg.

Psychedelic brothers in arms The Flaming Lips & Tame Impala complete their run of shows at Terminal 5.

Parquet Courts and The Beets, both heavily influenced by noisy '60s guitar pop, share the stage at Music Hall of Williamsburg tonight.

America's rock n roll sweetheart Joan Jett & her band The Blackhearts are playing a low-key show at Santos Party House celebrating the release of her first new album in seven years, "Unvarnished."

French indie rockers Phoenix play Barclays Center.

Tricky's Webster Hall show tonight has been postponed 'til Saturday Oct 26.

Thursday, Oct. 3
The Average White Band topped the U.S charts in 1974 with the super catchy instrumental hit "Pick Up The Pieces," sounding more like a Detroit or Memphis soul orchestra. In fact the band was from Dundee, Scotland and enjoyed a dozen U.S R&B hits, many of which were sampled by new era beatmakers like the Beastie Boys, TLC, Ice Cube, Eric B. & Rakim, Nas, A Tribe Called Quest and Arrested Development, making them one of the most sampled acts in history. At B.B. King Blues Club and Grill.

London trio White Lies are heavily influenced by the UK post-punk sounds of Joy Division and Echo & the Bunnymen. Their recently released third album "Big TV" is a big European hit. "Yes, they are working with a previously-explored aesthetic", said music blog The Line Of Best Fit, "but they are molding it into a beautifully-original product, per a vision that refuses to forget music’s former greatness." At The Bowery Ballroom, with another show on Friday.

Young New Zealand pop sensation Lorde (Ella Yelich-O'Connor) has already conquered the charts at home, now she's climbing the American music peaks with her sassy, slick pop that has drawn comparisons with Grimes and Lana Del Rey. At Warsaw.

Massive Attack V Adam Curtis, the unique collaboration between documentary filmmaker Adam Curtis and the intense music and visual work of Robert Del Naja of Massive Attack continues tonight at The Armory, 643 Park Avenue. Through Oct. 4.

Steely Dan continue their seven night residency at the Beacon Theatre. Tonight they're featuring their 1976 classic "The Royal Scam." Through Oct. 8.

Friday, Oct. 4
Sting continues his album launch residency in the Anspacher Theater in a series of 10 concerts to benefit The Public Theater. His new album "The Last Ship" pays homage to his roots growing up in the shadow of shipyards in the industrial northeast of England.

Pioneering English blues singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist John Mayall is enjoying his 80th birthday celebration with some talented friends in the intimate Iridium.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club formed in San Francisco in 1995, in love with British bands like Ride, My Bloody Valentine and Jesus and Mary Chain. The now LA-based band released its seventh album "Specter at the Feast" earlier this year, alongside a six-part promotional short film documenting it's recording. At Warsaw.

Saturday, Oct. 5
Former Ramones drummer Marky Ramone and his band Blitzkrieg team up with Andrew W.K. for a show at Irving Plaza tonight. The only surviving member of punk superstars The Ramones (1974 – 1996), Marky Ramone (Marc Bell) has also been drummer for other groundbreaking bands Wayne County and the Backstreet Boys, Richard Hell & the Voidoids, and the Misfits.

Multi-tasking techno producer Kaskade (he's also a DJ, A&R Director and record store owner) plays Barclays Center.

Lapalux headline a night of fresh left-field electronica at Glasslands Gallery. The only British artist on Los Angeles based label Brainfeeder, Lapalux started his career by releasing short experimental music cassettes under the name "Lap Of Luxury". With lightshow by Lazerpop.

Surfer Blood hail from West Palm Beach and combine loose indie rock with sunny pop vibes. At Music Hall of Williamsburg tonight and The Bowery Sunday.

Can you remember the '90s? Leading lights of that decade Soul Asylum, Fountains of Wayne and Evan Dando (The Lemonheads) have something they want you to hear. At Webster Hall.

Experimental pop duo Sleigh Bells take over Le Poisson Rouge to celebrate the release of their new "Bitter Rivals" album.

Hip Hop's annual party, Rock the Bells, scheduled for today, has been cancelled due to slow ticket sales.

Sunday, Oct. 6
Although Italian progressive rockers Goblin formed in 1972, this is their first ever American tour. Goblin are famed for their film soundtracks for Dario Argento, director of "Profondo Rosso" (Deep Red) in 1975 and "Suspiria" in 1977. With Secret Chiefs 3 in support. At Music Hall of Williamsburg tonight and Webster Hall Monday.

Bill Callahan recently released "Dream River," his fifteenth studio album. Callahan began writing songs for the album in August 2012, with the idea of it becoming an album to listen to late at night. Callhan noted, "It's the last record you could listen to at the end of the day, before you go to bed, around midnight… smooth and relaxing, the perfect end to a person's day." At Webster Hall tonight and Brooklyn Academy Of Music Monday.

Monday, Oct. 7
Alternative R&B The Weeknd is recording artist and producer Abel Tesfaye. From Toronto, The Weeknd recently released their debut album "Kiss Land" which features a guest appearance from frequent collaborator Drake. At Radio City Music Hall tonight and tomorrow.

Inspired blues ensemble the Campilongo Trio continues one of this city's longest and high quality residencies at The Living Room.

Tuesday, Oct. 8
Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds, with the release of his debut album "Eulogy for Evolution" in 2007, became well established for his genre-crossing compositions blending classical, pop and ambient electronica. At Le Poisson Rouge.

Young Las Vegas emo heroes Panic! At the Disco take over the home of the surreal theatrical production "Sleep No More" - McKittrick Hotel for a special party celebrating the release of their new album "Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die".
