HUNTERS POINT — Break out the popcorn and head to the roof.
A new luxury rental building in Long Island City is looking to lure residents with amenities that include a landscaped roof deck with a flat screen TV where they can watch movies under the stars.
Rose Associates began leasing The Maximilian at 5-11 47th Ave. last month, offering perks like the outdoor theater space, plus barbecues, an indoor lounge, a billiards room, fitness center and a professional concierge service.
The 12-story building is home to 188 apartments, and is smaller than many of towering high-rises that have opened in Hunters Point in recent years.
"This is a little different from what other Long Island City buildings offer," said Chiho Machado, Rose Associates' director of residential leasing, who says The Maximilian appeals to residents looking for a smaller living community.
"They really wanted to come to a more boutique, intimate space, and I think that's what we are offering," she said.
Rents at The Maximilian start at $1,975 for studios, $2,530 for one-bedrooms, and $3,490 for two bedrooms. Apartments come fitted with a washer and dryer, hard wood floors, stainless steel appliances, and Italian-made cabinetry. Some units offer terraces with views of the nearby East River.
The building is still under construction, but the first batch of tenants are expected to move in in November, Machado said.
The Maximilian is the latest building to open near the Long Island City waterfront offering a slew of high-end perks for tenants.
Last month, Developer TF Cornerstone opened the amenity-packed deck of its new building at 4545 Center Blvd., complete with a sand beach volleyball court and a putting green.
