THE BRONX — A 25-year-old man died as cops were arresting him for illegally selling MetroCard swipes in the 161st Street-Yankee Stadium station Tuesday, the NYPD said.
The man, whose identity was not released, was soliciting straphangers on the mezzanine serving B and D trains when officers approached about 2:30 p.m., police said.
He bolted, but cops caught up and placed him under arrest, police said.
As they were doing so, he became unconscious, cops said. He was rushed to Lincoln Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
It was not immediately clear how he died. The city's medical examiner will determine his cause of death.
