QUEENS — Austin Street will turn into an outdoor mall later this month, as part of an effort to draw shoppers to Forest Hills.

More than 200 store owners from Forest Hills and other Queens neighborhoods will offer their best products at the annual Shop Forest Hills Fall Festival, said Leslie Brown, president of the Forest Hills Chamber of Commerce, which organizes the event.

Brown hopes to introduce residents to stores that are located beyond the main Austin Street shopping corridor.

“It’s a street merchandise festival where you can shop outdoors and meet your neighbors," she said.

During the event, which will be held on Sept. 29 on Austin Street between 69th and 72nd roads, shoppers will be able to buy items ranging from candles and jewelry to baked goods and clothes, Brown said.

The festival will also provide attractions for kids, including bouncy rides. Many of the vendors will offer supplies and clothes specifically for kids, Brown said.

The Shop Forest Hills Fall Festival will take place on Sept. 29 (rain or shine) from noon to 6 p.m. For more information, click here.
