BROOKLYN — A police officer was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after his scooter was cut off by a stolen rental car in Bushwick, causing him to crash, police said.

A blue-green Dodge Charger with New Jersey tags reportedly veered into the officer's path shortly after 3 p.m. at the intersection of Myrtle and Evergreen avenues, police said.

The rental fled the scene after the crash, but two suspects were later apprehended a block away on nearby Troutman Street, cops said.

The officer was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment of neck and side pain, where he remained Tuesday evening, a police spokesman said.

Charges for the two suspects were pending.
