BATTERY PARK CITY — A bit of Mexico — by way of Philadelphia — is on its way to Battery Park City.

Philadelphia’s upscale Mexican eatery El Vez is slated to open its first New York City location, at 259 Vesey St., in March, representatives from the restaurant told Community Board 1’s Battery Park City committee Tuesday night.

The 218-seat restaurant in the Conrad New York hotel building, which won the board’s support for a liquor license last November, got advisory support from the committee for a sidewalk cafe on Tuesday.

The eatery is one of the latest from restaurateur Stephen Starr, who owns more than 20 restaurants in Philadelphia and New Jersey. His restaurants Morimoto and Buddakan also have branches in the city.

The menu will feature a variety of tacos and enchiladas that range in price from $10 to $20, and entrees such as camarones al ajillo, a shrimp dish served with a crab tamale for $23, and pasilla braised pork, a Mexican pork stew for $17.

The restaurant is slated to be open from 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. weekdays and 10:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. on weekends, according to its liquor license application.
