NEW YORK CITY — An off-duty NYPD officer was arrested Monday morning in The Bronx after allegedly choking and beating his girlfriend, cops said.
George Sotomayor, an eight-year-veteran of the force, was expected to be charged with assault with a weapon and strangulation, according to the NYPD.
The woman, whose identity was not released, was treated for a cut on her leg after the assault, a police spokesman said.
Cops said Sotomayor, 30, was arrested within the 45th Precinct, which covers Throgs Neck, Pelham Bay and City Island.
