MIDTOWN — The eyes have it.
Artist Andrea Cote has asked New Yorkers to submit cell-phone photos of their eyes, which she'll then display during a two-week-long storefront art exhibit on East 47th Street.
The exhibit, titled "Looking Glass," is part four of a summer-long showcase titled "The Introducing Series," being shown at The The Window at 125.
"This season is about process," said John Birdsong, 32, new media manager for the Roger Smith Hotel, which owns and runs The Window at 125.
Previous artists have put deer bones and articulated deer skeletons on display, invited passersby to sit for on-the-spot portraits, or performed dance — all inside the cramped space behind the storefront window, he explained.
"Andrea, obviously, she's really interested in eyes — the blurred line of perception, the way we see things versus the way others see us."
In addition to a flat-screen TV showing user-submitted photos of eyes, the display includes a black Mylar cutout of Cote's body, a mirror and other elements. It will expand as Cote, who hails from Long Island, adds other pieces to the work.
"She'll be in here," Birdsong said, "creating this piece over the next two weeks."
