STATEN ISLAND — A camp counselor in Staten Island has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl on a bus.
Endrick Torres, 33, of Elmhurst, Queens, assaulted the girl on Tuesday, according to court documents.
He was arrested on Wednesday and charged with sexual abuse, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child, the Staten Island District Attorney's office said.
A law enforcement source said that Torres, who worked at the traveling Big Bird’s Playhouse camp in Willowbrook for four years, was on the bus with the victim on the way to a roller rink in New Jersey.
When traffic got bad on the West Shore Highway, the plans were changed to go to Bloomingdale Park. Campers and counselors were on the bus for nearly two hours, the source said.
Torres sat next to the girl and abused her, the source said.
The victim mouthed to her friend to help her, and later revealed what Torres did and told her parents.
Torres was released on a $15,000 bond, and is due back in court on Monday, the DA's office said.
