NEW YORK CITY — A driver was thrown from his SUV when it smashed into a support beam for elevated Q train tracks in Coney Island early Thursday, cops said.
The 43-year-old driver, whose identity was not released, was driving his blue 2007 Ford Explorer west on West Brighton Avenue when he slammed into the beam near West First Street about 2:15 a.m., according to the NYPD.
The impact flipped the SUV and ejected the driver, who became pinned under it, police said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, cops said.
A 38-year-old woman who was riding in the passenger's seat of the Explorer was rushed to Lutheran Hospital and treated for minor injuries, police said.
Cops were still investigating the crash Thursday.
