SUNNYSIDE — A pedestrian was struck by a motorcyclist on the corner of Queens Boulevard and 44th Street early Sunday, according to police.

Police responding to a 911 from an injured motorcyclist found the victim at 3:54 am lying in the middle of the roadway. The 50-year-old man was unconscious and unresponsive, they said, and rescuers pronounced him dead at the crash site.

The motorcyclist, who was driving a 2001 Kawasaki, had been traveling eastbound on Queens Boulevard, when he hit the man who appeared to have been going north on 44 Street towards 43rd Avenue, according to police.

The cyclist was rushed to Elmhurst General Hospital, where he was in critical condition Sunday, police said.

Neither man's identity had been released, pending the proper notification of the deceased's family.

Police said the investigation into the crash was ongoing.
