NEW YORK CITY — Over 800 Staten Islanders abruptly lost power Thursday afternoon, a Con Edison spokesman said.
The customers, all 827 of which live in Willowbrook, could expect to have their electricity by Thursday evening, the power company said.
The power failure began about 12:20 p.m., about the same time a truck slammed into an electrical pole nearby, according to Con Ed and FDNY officials.
The driver was taken to Staten Island University Hospital after the accident near Freedom and Rivington avenues, a fire spokesman said.
Officials couldn't confirm if the two incidents were related.
