NEW YORK CITY — A man who was involved in a car accident Sunday morning fled the hospital and died in a friend's Fordham home, cops said.

The 39-year-old man, who was not immediately identified, succumbed to internal injuries inside an apartment near Grand Concourse and East 198th Street about 11 p.m., according to the NYPD.

He was treated at a nearby hospital after the Bronx accident, but had left against the staff's wishes, an NYPD spokesman added.

No one had been arrested as of Monday and the medical examiner was yet to determine the cause of death, cops said.
