Service Changes to Disrupt 13 Subway Lines This Weekend

NEW YORK CITY — Weekend construction work will disrupt 13 subway lines throughout the city this weekend, including ongoing work to repair damage to the G and R train tunnels, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Friday marks the start of more than a year of repair work on the R train tunnel connecting Manhattan and Brooklyn, along with continuing work on the G line between Long Island City and Brooklyn.

Here's the breakdown per line:

2 Train: There is no 2 train service between Third Avenue-149th Street and 135th Street due to station rehabilitation and rail repairs in the Harlem River tube.

From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. on Monday, service will operate in two sections: between 241st Street and 3rd Avenue-149th Street and between 148th Street and Flatbush Avenue. Free shuttle buses will be available for alternate service.

5 Train: There will be no service between East 180th Street and 149th Street-Grand Concourse due to ongoing repairs. 

From 6 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, service will operate in two sections: between Dyre Avenue and East 180th Street and between 149th Street-Grand Concourse and Bowling Green every 20 minutes.

Customers should use 2 trains as an alternative. Free shuttle buses will also be available.

6 Train: Pelham Bay Park-bound 6 trains will run express from Hunts Point Avenue to Parkchester from 5:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

A Train: Downtown A trains will run express at night from 125th Street to 59th Street. The changes will be in effect from 11:45 p.m. until 6:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. on Monday.

C Train: Downtown C trains will run express from 125th Street to 59th Street from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

D Train: Coney Island-bound D trains will run express from Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center to 36th Street from 11:45 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. on Monday.

F Train: Jamaica-bound F trains will be rerouted on the M line from 47th-50th Streets to Queens Plaza and will run express from Queens Plaza to Roosevelt Avenue from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Jamaica-bound F trains will also be rerouted over the A line from Jay Street-MetroTech to West 4th Street from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. 

G Train: Ongoing repair work to fix Hurricane Sandy damage will shut down G train service between Court Square and Nassau Avenue from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Free shuttle buses will operate between Nassau Avenue and Court Square and between Lorimer Street and Court Square.

J Train: There will be no service between Broadway Junction and Myrtle Avenue from 3:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday.

Trains will operate in two sections: between Jamaica Center and Broadway Junction and between Chambers Street and Myrtle Avenue, then rerouted via the M line to Metropolitan Avenue.

The L train will provide alternative service via Myrtle-Wyckoff and Broadway Junction. Free shuttle buses will also be available.

M Train: There will be no service from 3:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday due to station renewal and track work. The J train will make all M stops between Myrtle Avenue and Metropolitan Avenue.

N Train: Starting at 11:30 p.m. Friday until October 2014, there will be no N trains running between Court Street in Brooklyn and Whitehall Street in Manhattan. Late-night N and R service will be rerouted over the Manhattan Bridge.

Coney-Island bound N trains will also run express from Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center to 36th Street from 11:45 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights, and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Q Train: Manhattan-bound trains will run express from Sheepshead Bay to Newkirk Plaza due to track work from 10:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m Monday.

R Train: Starting at 11:30 p.m. Friday until October 2013, there will be no R trains running between Court Street in Brooklyn and Whitehall Street in Manhattan. Late-night N and R service will be rerouted over the Manhattan Bridge.

Bay Ridge-bound trains will run express from Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center to 36th Street from 6 a.m. Saturday to 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
