Wednesday, July, 17
No one was more surprised than than the band themselves when Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark (OMD) were able to capture the magic of former glories with their second album since they reformed in 2008, "English Electric." Sticking to their successful synth-pop template that produced such 80s classics as "Enola Gay," "Electricity" and "If You Leave," the new album was described by English newspaper Daily Express as "… thumping and penetrating, catchy and crazy and brilliantly familiar. It's fresh and it's pretty wow." At Terminal 5.

Also tonight: Another legendary English band is in town. The Specials are bringing their "danceable ska and rocksteady beat with punk's energy and attitude" to Pier 26 at Hudson River Park.

And: Queens East Coast hip-hop royalty the duo Mobb Deep hit Stage 48.

Thursday, July, 18    
Fancy spending an evening with Alice? The original master of theatrical metal shock-rock Alice Cooper brings his guillotines, electric chairs, fake blood, boa constrictors, baby dolls and plenty of hits to Beacon Theatre.

Also tonight: Before The White Stripes there was the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion — a primal blues howl of a band that peaked commercially in the mid-90s, releasing a string of acclaimed, old style dirty blues and rock 'n' roll albums. At Music Hall of Williamsburg.

And: Raggedy feel-good rock 'n' roll is on the menu with The Beets tonight at Glasslands Gallery.

Friday, July 19
The Legends Of Summer Stadium Tour rolls into New York City with two of the biggest names in pop culture and frequent collaborators, Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake, teaming up again to wow the masses. Fresh from the release of his new album "Magna Carta... Holy Grail" Jay-Z will be ready to party. Aside from appearing on the title track of Jay-Z's new album, Justin Timberlake has been busy with his expansive third studio album "The 2020 Experience," which was released in March. At Yankee Stadium. Also Saturday.

Also tonight: One of the heroes of new R&B, Star Slinger, and Dark Disco residents DKDS party at one of Downtown's best dim sum eateries, 88 Palace, at 88 E Broadway (at Forsyth Street).

And: Kisses combines indie and disco into a funky contemporary groove. At Mercury Lounge.

Saturday, July 20
Raised in Stockholm by a former punk rocker, teen idol Adrien Lux says, “It’s hard for me to not write single-type songs — tracks you’ll want to listen to a million times. And that’s okay. It’s better to make one of those than three that sound good, but not great.” Catch his anthemic pop at Webster Hall tonight.

Also: New York’s Hot 97 DJ Peter Rosenberg celebrates his birthday with a bang — his 2nd Annual Birthday Concert "Peterpalooza" features left-field hip-hop wizard Odd Future, Meek Mill and Schoolboy Q. On the Williamsburg Waterfront.

Sunday, July 21
While new 4AD label signings Indians (the musical alter-ego of Søren Løkke Juul) only played their first concert in their hometown of Copenhagen in February 2012 and self-released their debut single in April, they’ve already garnered enough attention to perform shows across Europe and in North America, playing with the likes of Beirut and Bear In Heaven over this Summer. At Knitting Factory.

Monday, July 22
Time for upbeat indie-pop summer fun. on their "Most Summer Nights Tour," with special guests Tegan and Sara at Hudson River Park's Pier 26.  Also Tuesday.

Tuesday, July 23
Gypsy punks Gogol Bordello bring their cyclonic energy and feisty worker's anthems to Music Hall of Williamsburg.
