UPPER WEST SIDE — The popular weekly GreenFlea Market has canceled its dates through the end of July, because of construction on the playground where vendors usually peddle their wares.

The market, which sets up both inside and outside the William O'Shea Campus at West 76th Street and Columbus Avenue, closed July 14 and will remain on hiatus until Aug. 4, the market said on its website.

Workers are revamping the school's playground, replacing basketball nets and brackets, as well as painting fresh lines on the courts and the surrounding fence as part of a $150,000 project funded by the City Council, the Department of Education said. The building houses several programs, including The Anderson School.

The closure of the market, which has been drawing shoppers on Sundays for 25 years, was first reported by the West Side Rag.
