NEW YORK CITY — An elderly woman died after being hit by a car while crossing the street in Bensonhurst Saturday night.

King Fong, 79, was crossing west on Bay Parkway near 72nd Street just after 9 p.m. when she was hit by a Dodge 4-door sedan traveling south on the same street, police said.

Police officers found Fong, who was just one block away from her home, unconscious and unresponsive. She was taken to Lutheran Medical Center and declared death, police said.

The male driver of the sedan stopped and remained on the scene.

It was unclear Sunday morning who had the right-of-way, a police spokeswoman said.
