GOWANUS — A new boutique hotel whose backers include a well-known TriBeCa restaurateur is moving forward.

The operators of the Gowanus Inn & Yard, an 82-room, four-story hotel planned for Union Street and Fourth Avenue, filed their plans with the city this week and expect to begin construction when permits are approved, said Alec Shtromandel, one of the project's backers.

Exactly when that will be is tough to predict, Shtromandel said.

"It could take three months, it could take six months," he said.

Shtromandel was the developer of the Union Hotel on Degraw Street between Third and Fourth avenues.

Another partner in the Gowanus Inn & Yard, according to Capital New York, is Matt Abramcyk, the onetime operator of the Beatrice Inn nightclub, who more recently opened the TriBeCa restaurants Super Linda and Smith & Mills.

The site where the Gowanus Inn & Yard is slated to be built is a parking lot. It's directly across the street from the new Dinosaur Bar-B-Que restaurant at 604 Union St.

Another "boutique hotel" is in the works on President Street and Third Avenue.
