London all-female four piece Savages makes its highly anticipated debut tonight at Webster Hall. Its first album "Silence Yourself" has received rave reviews with The Independent saying that "Post-millennial indie boy-rock has taken a savage beating here. And it may prove the best it’s ever had." Savages manifesto is simple: "Our intention is to create a sound, indestructible and musically solid, written for the stage, designed with enough nuances to provide a wide range of emotions. The songs aim to remind us that human beings haven’t evolved so much, that music can still be straight to the point, efficient and exciting."

Also tonight: Literate and melodic twee popsters from the UK Belle & Sebastian are in town for a super-rare show and in support are New Jersey's perennial quality indie pop purveyors Yo La Tengo. Part of Celebrate Brooklyn at the Prospect Park Bandshell.

And: The annual, free River Rocks Festival launches this evening at Pier 84 (at the end of W44th St). Kicking things off tonight is New Orleans’ Generationals and Sallie Ford.
Prolific Jamaican rhythm section and production duo Sly & Robbie bring their irresistible reggae grooves to Irving Plaza. Catch stream of consciousness beats and stories from the human beatboxer Reggie Watts as he guests with Brooklyn's Shining Mirrors at Mercury Lounge.

After an acclaimed Dylan-esque debut album "Alive On Arrival," baby-faced singer songwriter Steve Forbert hit the charts in 1980 with the radio hit "Romeos Tune" from his second album "Jackrabbit Slim." After this promising start, it was surprising that he was dropped soon after by his record label. Since then though, he's continued to write and record, and retains a loyal audience which appreciates his gift of melody and easy, intelligent folk. Both "Alive On Arrival" and "Jackrabbit Slim" have just been re-issued  and his most recent album "Over With You" was released in 2012. At City Winery.

Also tonight: Normally 7 inch vinyl specialists Sultans Of Swat (Alex Luther-Cannon and Ryan Dustin) are spinning Sunday nights at Donna. Tonight they're filling the awkward silences in between The FilmShop's selections of the best short films from their Manhattan and Brooklyn filmmakers collective. At the Music Hall Of Williamsburg.

And: Teen idols OneRepublic entertain the masses at Rumsey Playfield, Central Park

Chris Isaak's latest album project "Beyond The Sun" salutes the epic voices of Memphis's Sun Records. On the album he covers Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, and Jerry Lee Lewis. Chris says, "I did this because I love this music — that's the entire reason. "You gotta listen to the original ones, they're classics, they're awesome but you can have fun with them. These guys discovered this music for us and we had to rediscover it. There's no way to do it exactly like they did it, so you've gotta give a little bit of your own take on it." At The Capitol Theatre.

Also today: The Rite Of Summer Music Festival aims to present the highest quality live performances of free contemporary classical music to as many people as possible in a relaxed, fun, outdoor setting. This afternoon's performance features the Bang On A Can All-Stars, a band that crosses the boundaries between classical, jazz, rock, world and experimental music. Joining them in today's performance is composer Steve Reich and Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore. Governor's Island, from 1pm.

And: Catch the 1931 Bela Lugosi classic silent film "Dracula" accompanied by Philip Glass's original score performed live. At the Prospect Park Bandshell as part of Celebrate Brooklyn. From 7.30pm.

Wire formed in 1976, evolving into one of the smartest and most incisive post-punk bands in the UK. Their golden period was between 1976 and 1979 when the band released three influential and critically acclaimed albums, their debut "Pink Flag" (1977), "Chairs Missing" (1978) and "154" (1979). The band's most recent album "Change Becomes Us" picks up a thread from that era — it was created from tracks the band had in their live set in 1979, but didn't record at the time. At The Bowery Ballroom.
