QUEENS — Queens Congresswoman Grace Meng threw support behind former councilwoman Melinda Katz in the race for Queens borough president Tuesday.
“Melinda understands that every Queens resident must be treated equally, and will work to give every community a voice as leaders make decisions on important issues,” said Meng in a statement.
In her endorsement, Meng cited Katz’s record of working on issues important for Queens families, including support for public schools, creating the infrastructure for high-tech jobs in Long Island City and expanding healthcare for women.
Katz has been endorsed by the Queens County Democratic Party.
The race also includes Councilmen Leroy Comrie and Peter Vallone, state Senator Tony Avella and a Republican candidate Aurelio “Tony” Arcabascio.
