NEW YORK CITY — A 62-year-old woman was hospitalized after a man violently threw her down in the lobby of her Briggs Avenue apartment building and ran off with her $700, NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly said.
The suspect trailed the woman into her building where he grabbed her and threw her to the ground to rummage through her pockets about 3:30 a.m. June 29, according to the NYPD.
Police released a video showing the suspect standing over the woman while she tried to fend him off.
After the suspect fled, the woman was brought to an area hospital in stable condition, a police spokesman said.
The suspect, whom police believe to be 5 foot 9 inches tall and about 200 pounds, was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
