BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — A man and a woman have been hospitalized after being shot Friday afternoon, officials said.

The shooting took place at approximately 1:32 p.m. at the corner of Nostrand and Jefferson Avenues, Fire Department officials said.

The man, who is in his 20s, was wounded in the stomach and is in serious condition, according to the New York Police Department.

The woman, who is 23-years-old, was struck twice in the leg, police said.

Both victims have been taken to King's County Hospital, according to the Fire Department.

Shakur Carrasquillo, who works across the street, said he rushed outside as soon as heard gunfire.

He saw the shot man clutch his stomach — holding back the blood — and stumble down the block before collapsing in front of the Masonic lodge at 423 Nostrand Ave., Carrasquillo said.

Meanwhile, the shot woman was hopping and cursing on the stoop of 421 Nostrand Ave. as blood streamed down her leg, he said.

Carrasquillo, 34, said that a man standing alongside the woman on went inside the building and that she then followed him.

Some neighbors were surprised that violence had erupted on the block.

"This block is better than ever before," said 48-year-old Ngone Sow, owner of nearby Soween Hair Salon. "I don't see these things happening. It's really shocking."
