GRANITEVILLE — Staten Island got its fourth NYPD outpost with the opening of the 121 Precinct.

The stapler-shaped station house, in Graniteville, held its first roll call at 7 a.m. Monday after a lengthy construction project that broke ground in 2009, the Staten Island Advance first reported.

The new precinct will take over a section of the borough formerly shared by the 120 and 122 precinct. It was introduced to ease the workload of those two precincts.

The building, at 950 Richmond Ave., will be the first green precinct in the city and was built to LEED standards, the Advance reported.

It will be manned by 160 cops and cover neighborhoods on the northern and western parts of Staten Island, including Port Richmond, Mariners Harbor and New Springville.

The precinct will be led by Deputy Inspector Terence Hurson, who was formerly the commanding officer in the 94th Precinct in Greenpoint.

Two-thirds of the detectives, officers and supervisors came from the 120 and 122, with the rest coming from precincts around the city, the Advance said.
