QUEENS — Tennis enthusiasts and their families will have a chance to spend a day playing their favorite sport along with their kids during a carnival organized by the West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills this Sunday.

“We’ll have tennis activities for all,” said Bob Ingersole, the West Side Tennis Club's director.

Children will play QuickStart tennis which employs shorter racquets and smaller courts which make it easier for kids to play.

There will also be a tennis round-robin tournament for adults.

“It’s going to be a family day,” said Ingersole. “We’ll also have food and refreshments and jazz groups will be playing in the Rose Garden,” he added.

Children's games will include various rides and a dunking pool.

Ingersole said the event is part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the club in Forest Hills. The club was originally founded in 1892 in Manhattan.

The U.S. Open was held in Forest Hills until 1978, before moving to the National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.

The celebration will also include a gala on June 29 and a concert at the club’s stadium on August 28.

The event will take place on Sunday, June 30 from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (rain date: Saturday, July 13). Adults: $15, children 5 and over: $5; free for club members. To get more information call: (718) 268-2300.
