Phony Cops Tied Up and Robbed Victims in Washington Heights, Police Say

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — Four men pretended to be police officers to tie up and rob Washington Heights residents, police said.

The four suspects approached a home at 2090 Amsterdam Ave. about 6:40 a.m. May 22, displayed a gun and claimed to be police, the NYPD said.

The suspects then forcibly entered the home and tied up the people who were inside before stealing their jewelry, cellphones and cash, police said. The suspects then fled on foot.

One suspect was wearing a black Aeropostale hoodie with blue jeans, the second was wearing a gray Ed Hardy jacket with blue jeans, the third was wearing a gray hoodie with blue jeans and the fourth was wearing a black hoodie and dark jeans and carrying a firearm.
