KENSINGTON — Three people were hospitalized with serious injuries after a school bus and a car crashed into each other Tuesday morning, officials said.
The bus was driving near East 5th Street and Avenue C when it collided with a car about 7 a.m., according to FDNY and Department of Education officials.
Three people were seriously injured, a fire spokesman said. Two were taken to Kings County Hospital and a third was rushed to Maimonides, he added.
At least one of the hospitalized patients was a student whose parents were notified, an education spokeswoman said.
The circumstances of the crash remained unclear Tuesday morning. The education spokesman said the car had crashed into the bus.
But the front of the bus was badly mangled and the driver's side of the car was heavily damaged.
Initial reports said that five people were seriously injured in the crash, but the FDNY later said only three people were seriously hurt.
