PARK SLOPE — The neighborhood's literary hub is opening a new outpost.
Community Bookstore will soon open a bookshop in Windsor Terrace, the store's owners announced Thursday. To be named Terrace Books, the new store will take over the space now occupied by Babbo's Books, the combination new and used bookstore at 242 Prospect Park West.
Like Babbo's, the new store will sell a mix of used and new titles and kids' books. It will also offer bicycle delivery of new titles.
"Leonora Stein, the wonderful owner of Babbo's books, was ready to move on to other things and we wanted to make sure a bookstore stayed in Windsor Terrace," Community Bookstore co-owners Stephanie Valdez and Ezra Goldstein said in a statement.
"Selling used books provides us with an opportunity to serve up interesting, affordable books and to recycle some of the books that overflow from our customers' shelves."
Valdez and Goldstein said in their announcement that Windsor Terrace is a "great" neighborhood and gave an appreciative nod to nearby businesses like Terrace Bagels and Dub Pies. They also noted that the area has a literary connection: Isaac Asimov reportedly wrote above his dad's Windsor Terrace candy store.
A grand opening party for Terrace Books is planned for June, according to Community Bookstore's statement.
