NEW YORK CITY — A driver was arrested for using a fake ID after he mowed down an 82-year-old man on White Plains Road Wednesday night, cops said.
Nabaali Cletus, 46, was driving his gray 2001 Volvo south on White Plains Road when he struck Manuel Verdesoto, who was crossing east at Watson Avenue about 7:22 p.m., according to the NYPD.
Verdesoto was rushed to Jacobi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Cletus remained on the scene after the crash and was arrested when police discovered that he was using a forged New York State photo ID and did not have a proper driver's license, cops said.
He was expected to be charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument and operating a motor vehicle without a driver's license.
