Thieves Swipe $7,000 Worth of Balenciaga Bags from SoHo Shop, Police Say

SOHO — Two crooks snatched four handbags worth a total of $6,985 from designer SoHo shop Balenciaga earlier this week, police said.

The men grabbed the bags — which included pink, black and silver totes — from a display table about 12:15 p.m. Sunday, then quickly ran out of the 138 Wooster St. store.

Police were still investigating the incident Wednesday and said they have surveillance footage of the crime.

The upscale boutique is no stranger to theft. In March, a woman shoplifted a $2,650 leather jacket from the Italian designer store, police said.

Other notable crimes in this week's NYPD blotter in the 1st Precinct include:

► A 26-year-old man had his $12,000 Honda motorcycle stolen on May 10, police said. The man told officers he parked the black 2006 bike in front of 2 River Terrace, and when he returned, it was missing.

► A 31-year-old man had his $2,000 Masi Speciale bicycle swiped from a rack at 161 Sixth Ave. some time between 6:30 and 8:30 a.m. last Friday, according to police reports. He told cops he locked up his bike and left, but when he returned, it was gone.

► A 21-year-old man had his bag snatched from his arm as he was crossing the corner of Mercer and Canal streets about 11:15 on May 8. He told police the alleged thief grabbed the bag  — which contained $400 and an iPhone — as he quickly ran past.

► A 24-year-old woman had her $500 Kate Spade handbag stolen after briefly leaving it unattended at The Patriot Saloon, a bar at 110 Chambers St., police said. She told cops she noticed the bag, which contained a her $500 iPhone 5, a pair of $100 shoes, $300 worth of makeup and a $100 Henri Bedel keychain, went missing about 11 p.m. on Thursday.

► A man had his wallet stolen out of his unlocked Equinox gym locker while he worked out at the 14 Wall St. location May 8 about 8 p.m. The 23-year-old victim told police his stolen credit cards were used to purchase eight MetroCards.
