LONG ISLAND CITY — Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he planned to attend what could be the Knicks' final home playoff game of the season Thursday night against the Indiana Pacers — and may even have a few cold brews.

"I certainly plan to go to the Knicks tomorrow night to root them on," Bloomberg said at an unrelated press conference in Queens Wednesday. "I plan to have a couple beers and two or three boxes of popcorn and cheer them on."

The Knicks are down 3-1 in the second round best of seven series. If they lose Thursday their season is over.

The team has struggled to give Carmelo Anthony much needed offensive help, with J.R. Smith having an especially tough time finding his shot.

The Pacers' players may also want to be extra careful when Bloomberg is at the Garden.

Spurs forward Stephen Jackson sprained an ankle when he tripped over a waitress taking Bloomberg's order during a Jan. 3 game at Madison Square Garden.

Hizzoner joked with reporters about his general lack of sports acumen, pointing out that he knew the Knicks had won the second game in the series.

"I am, as you know, not the world's greatest sports fan," he said.
