WEST FARMS — Two men mugged a 78-year-old Bronx man Friday morning as he turned from buying flowers he intended to place by his deceased mother’s memorial, authorities said.

About 12:35 a.m., two men came up behind the victim and tried to take his gold chain near Tremont and Honeywell Avenues in West Farms.

A security video shows the elderly man fighting back but the suspects wrestled him to the ground, as he held the bouquet and they ripped off his necklace, police said.

Officers from the Narcotics Division conducting an operation nearby saw the robbery unfold. They chased the suspects and caught one of them, Charles Hackett, 23. The other ran into a silver vehicle and drove away.
