Phony Neighbor Baits Uptown Residents Into Burglaries, Police Say

NORTHERN MANHATTAN — Cops are on the lookout for a woman who has lured multiple uptown residents into opening their doors to a burglary duo by pretending to be their neighbor.

The bogus neighbor was part of a team that burglarized three apartments in the 34th Precinct starting last fall.

In each case the woman knocked on the door of teh vctim's apartment and either warned them that she had a leak or said she had the resident's mail. When the unsuspecting tenants opened their door, two male suspects rushed in and robbed the tenant at gunpoint.

The incidents began on Sept. 8, at 9 p.m., April 12 at 6 p.m., and May 7 at 5:43 p.m.

Cops say the female suspect is believed to be in her early 20s, stands between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 8 inches and weighs between 130 and 150 pounds.

The male suspects are described as between 20 and 30 years old, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall weigh between 160 and 180 pounds.
