Teens Rob Bronx Laundromat After Starting Fire in Bathroom, Police Say

FORDHAM — Two teenagers allegedly robbed a Bronx laundromat after starting a fire in the bathroom last week.

The incident happened at the Classic Laundry Center at 2371 Jerome Ave. about 12:48 a.m. May 2, the NYPD said. One of the teens allegedly started a small fire in the bathroom and when the worker went to check on it the other teen climbed over a glass partition at the register and stole an unspecified amount of money, police said.

The worker was not injured during the robbery, police added.

The alleged robbers appeared to be in their late teens, police said. The one who jumped over the partition was last seen wearing a dark hoodie and black cargo jeans with a white belt and black boots, police said.

The one who started the fire was last seen wearing a white or gray shirt with black sleeves, gray sweat pants and black sneakers, according to the NYPD.
