UPPER EAST SIDE — Neighborhood entrepreneurs will soon have a new resource for figuring out how to launch and sustain their small businesses.

Community Board 8 is launching a new forum aimed at helping start-ups and enterprises of all types and sizes navigate red tape and access assistance programs available to them, CB8 Chair Nick Viest said at a recent meeting.

The committee, which will meet for the first time next month, is also a way of attracting a diverse crowd to CB8 meetings — including freshly minted college graduates, Viest said.

The meeting will be held at Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, 331 E. 70th St., on May 9 at 7 p.m.

"We don't have a lot of exposure," Viest said. "There's a lot of people out there coming out of school that probably don't even know that we exist.

"Quite honestly, we don't have as many younger members as I'd like to have," he added. "I think we should try to reach out to them."

This inaugural forum will include CB Member Cory Evans — who will chair the proceedings — as well as Assembly Member Micah Kellner and Gregg Bishop, Deputy Commissioner, Business Development Division at Small Business Services.
