BROOKLYN — A van careened through a fence and slammed into a building after colliding with a school bus in Greenpoint on Monday afternoon, leaving four injured and sending a student and at least one other person to a hospital, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 1:39 p.m. at the intersection of McGuinness Boulevard and Greenpoint Avenue, the FDNY said, when a blue Ford E-350 collided with the bus, slammed through a metal fence and rolled into the side of a residential building at 193 Greenpoint Ave., witnesses and fire officials said.

Three people, including a student, were aboard the bus at the time of the crash, NYC Department of Education spokeswoman Marge Feinberg told DNAinfo.com New York.

The student, whose age was not released, was removed from the bus via stretcher and taken to Woodhull Medical Center for evaluation, Feinberg, witnesses and fire officials said. A second victim was also transported to the hospital. Two others were treated at the scene but declined further medical attention.

The bus was registered Happy Day Transit, which is based in Long Island City, according to the Department of Education website.
