Motorcyclist Hurt in Crash with Van Near Williamsburg Bridge

LOWER EAST SIDE — A man on a motorcycle was seriously injured in a crash with a van just blocks from the Williamsburg Bridge on Monday, officials say.

The crash took place on the eastbound lanes of Delancey street at the intersection with Chrystie Street at 11:40 a.m., FDNY said.

The motorcyclist was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center with serious injuries, FDNY officials said. The motorcycle, a blue Kawasaki, showed no obvious signs of damage. Police did not immediately have the cause of the crash.

The van involved in the accident was no longer on scene at noon, sources said. It was not immediately clear whether police were looking into the crash as a hit-and-run.
