Actress Debi Mazar Not Opening Park Slope Restaurant Due to Rising Rents

PARK SLOPE — Fifth Avenue isn't getting a dose of Hollywood after all.

Actress Debi Mazar announced on Twitter Friday that she is not opening a restaurant in the space formerly occupied by Fornino on Fifth Avenue between Carroll Street and Garfield Place.

"The rumor was true," Mazar tweeted. "Was abt to take over Il Fornino space in Park Slope. Landlord tripled rent and wants McDonalds or Olive Garden:( sorry PS."

She added a short while later, "But...Dont worry. We will Find another spot! things happen for reasons. We have great food to share! Stay tuned!"

Rumors had been swirling that the actress and her Italian chef husband Gabriele Corcos were "in serious negotiations with the landlord" to rent the spacious Fornino, which closed in February.

The building owner could not be reached immediately for comment on Friday.

Mazar, known for tough-gal roles like publicist Shauna on HBO's "Entourage," moved to Windsor Terrace last fall. She co-hosts a cooking show "Extra Virgin" on the Cooking Channel with Corcos.
