PORT RICHMOND — A man threatened to hurt a Staten Island mother’s 4-year-old son if she did not hand over her purse on a Port Richmond street last month, police said.

On March 30, the man approached the 32-year-old woman from behind near Port Richmond and Post avenues at around 9:30 p.m. and demanded her pocketbook, cops said.

When she refused to give up her purse, the suspect allegedly threatened to hurt the woman’s 4-year-old son, cops said. The woman gave up her purse, and the suspect fled the scene, cops said.

Neither the woman or her son were hurt, police said.

Police said the suspect was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt.
