BOROUGH PARK — A 56-year-old woman was brutally beaten and robbed inside of a Borough Park subway station earlier this month, cops said.
The victim was calmly walking down the steps from an elevated F train at the 18th Avenue Station about 2:40 a.m. on March 9 when a tall, hooded man is seen trailing her, according to surveillance video released by the NYPD.
The attacker pounced on the unsuspecting woman at the bottom of the stairwell at the station, the video shows.
In the ensuing struggle, the assailant repeatedly shoved the woman up against a wall as he tried to pry away her purse, according to the NYPD.
He threw her onto the ground as he wrested the bag from her hands and then repeatedly kicked her, the video shows.
As he emptied the purse onto the ground, she stood up again and tried to flee, but he ran after her, cops said.
The victim was taken to Maimonides Medical Center, where she was treated for a broken arm and facial bruises, cops said.
The attacker, whom cops believe to be in his 20s and weighs about 150 pounds, was last seen wearing a black hoodie emblazoned with the Greek letters "Alpha Phi Delta" on the front and "Stugotz" with the number 27 on the back.
