Linda the Bra Lady to Set Up Shop in Yorkville

YORKVILLE — Beloved brassiere chainlet Linda's Bra Salon is coming to the Upper East Side.

The bra outlet will soon open a store at 1409 Third Ave. and East 80th Street, owner Linda "The Bra Lady" Becker confirmed.

This will be the third Linda's location, joining stores at 828 Lexington Ave., between 63rd and 64th streets, and 552 Third Ave., between 36th and 37th streets.

Becker, who's made bras her bread and butter for 26 years, said she looks forward to working with a clientele largely comprised of "a lot of young women with children."

"I like the area. It's a great area. There's nothing like that up there," she said. "It's very family-oriented up there, so it's a good neighborhood for us."

Though the shop will be approximately the same size as her Murray Hill store — about 1,500 square feet — Becker said she is looking forward to seeing what shoppers wanted, as it varies depending on the area.

Lexington Avenue, she said, is frequented by mature women.

Murray Hill is popular with young women who mainly want bathing suits.

"You've got to alter the merchandise to the neighborhood," she said.

Becker's mantra and mission will be mainly unchanged at the new store — she will stock sizes up to K-cups and offer prices starting at an affordable $29.

"A lot of retro swimsuits are in this year," she said. "French bikinis are in this year — the long,  long fringe on the top is huge."

And there's increasingly hope for busty bikini wearers in search of a cute suit — whereas in the past they were confined to frumpy one-pieces, she said.

"The companies are really stepping up to the plate and making cup-size swimsuits much sexier and younger," she said.

Becker also promised to stick to a core tenet in the new shop, she said.

"You're going to get the kind of help that you've never experienced before. We're a very service-oriented store," she said.

"You come in the dressing rooms and we take care of you. You'll leave being happy and have a fun time."
