Fans Petition MTV to Bring Back 'Washington Heights' for a Second Season

By Nigel Chiwaya | March 28, 2013 5:31pm

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — Fans of MTV's "Washington Heights" are hoping that the television network isn't done uptown just yet.

The show's followers have started a Change.org petition to get MTV to bring back the cast for a second season of northern Manhattan adventures. The petition has racked up more than 800 signatures since going live on Saturday.

"Washington Heights," which followed nine uptown friends as they tried to launch music, fashion, and sports careers, wrapped up its first season on March 14. While the show drew mixed reviews during a debut screening at Apt. 78 in January, supporters say that they'd like to see the show, which they say has a positive message, return.

"I hope there will be a season 2. Please bring the show back!!!!" fan Samantha McCune wrote on the petition's website. McCune added that she liked the show because she could relate to the people on it and their problems.

"This show represented our neighborhood properly," Led Fuentes, who goes by the name Led Black on the popular northern Manhattan Blog Uptown Collective, wrote.

Representatives from MTV did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
