MANHATTAN — Popular Second Avenue restaurant Lusardi's is bringing its taste of Italy to Greenwich Village.
Lusardi's is preparing to open a second Manhattan dining room at 289 Bleecker St. at Seventh Avenue South, workers at the Upper East Side location said Thursday morning and liquor license documents confirm.
The 64-seat casual restaurant will "focus on multi-regional Italian cooking," representatives for the eatery told CB2, according to board documents supporting the granting of a full liquor license.
Workers are currently restoring the original flat facade of the landmarked building, which housed O. Pagani & Brothers Music Store from 1914, restaurant representatives told CB2 and the Landmarks Preservation Commission. CB2 praised Lusardi's for its "superb restoration effort."
At Lusardi's Upper East Side location at 1494 Second Ave., which opened in 1982, pasta dishes like fettuccine al ragu di vitello — homemade fettuccine in a veal stew — run from $23 to $27. Fish entrees like sogliola al prosecco — filet of lemon sole in a light prosecco wine sauce with a butter and chive emulsion — cost $28 or $29.
It was not immediately clear when the new Lusardi's location, which was formerly home to the restaurant 289 Asian, is slated to open.
